This grape was introduced a long time ago by Spanish immigrants to the Argentinean vine growing regions; it has developed local populations that are different among themselves due to the multiplication by stakes or cuttings system that is used there. The Torrontés Mendocino, the Sanjuanino and the Riojano (grown in the Chilecito zone in La Rioja province) are very distinctive, being the last the one that stands out by its greater potential in aromas and flavours. That was the one we choose.
